Intermediate and Advanced Parks Designation

OPA has revamped the system, and is now accepting applications! Outline for the new system can be found below

Parks employees are a wealth of experience and knowledge, and we want to help recognize that. We hope applying for the Intermediate and Advanced designations in this program will assist members in planning their professional development goals, and give them confidence in the knowledge they have in their field. This program will also help employers confidently choose employees, knowing they have the skills required to competently do the job.


Intermediate Parks Practitioner Designation Requirements

  • At least 2 years of parks and open space industry experience
  • OPA member in good standing
  • Hold current WHMIS & Standard First Aid training certificates
  • Attained 10 OPA educational credits


Advanced Parks Practitioner Designation Requirements

  • At least 5 years of parks and open space industry experience
  • Hold the Intermediate Parks Practitioner designation
  • OPA member in good standing
  • Hold current WHMIS & First Aid training certificates
  • Attained 10 Additional OPA education credits
