Esther Afriat has been working for the City of Toronto for 25 years, with Parks and Recreation Division, she has a diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services and Schulich/PRO Parks and Recreation Management Certificate.

She has worked for the City in various capacities, including Recreation Supervisor, Policy Officer and Parks General Supervisor and is now a Manager of Parks. Esther became involved in the encampment file in early Covid and has proven herself as a problem solver and leader.

Taking an innovative and collaborative approach to shaping the Parks Branch’s response to homelessness, ensuring worker health and safety and clients are treated with dignity and respect.
